This year’s STCA General Meeting was dedicated to informing and inspiring our community about the importance of marine conservation, celebrating the unique beauty of False Bay, and exploring the role we all play in protecting our coastline.

The programme included a welcome and brief update from STCA Chairperson David Attwell and Ward 61 Councillor Simon Liell-Cock. There was a brief introduction by Roger Bagshaw to the Historical Society’s proposal for the inclusion of Simon’s Town Historic and Natural Marine Precinct on South Africa’s UNESCO Tentative List, for more information on this please click here. This was followed by presentations from two exceptional voices in marine protection, awareness, and stewardship.

Gregg Oelofse, Manager of the City of Cape Town’s Coastal Management Department, shared insights into the City’s initiatives to preserve the ecological integrity of our coastline.
